Christmas Message

We pray for joy this Christmas, whatever this season brings we have an assurance of God’s goodness and His everlasting love for us. Whatever your circumstance, we pray for a peaceful, hope filled Christmas full of love for our friends, family, for those we know, and for ourselves. God has given the greatest gift, it is priceless, His love knows no limits that He did not spare his Son. He was given especially for you. Happy Christmas!

Celebrate the Nations

This spectacular event is one of our favourites. More than 250 people from over 30 nations joined together to celebrate the rich diversity of our town, Grantham.

Many guests wore national dress and brought traditional food to share. Some sang and danced to entertain us. Behind the scenes volunteers made the evening work well, along with Sunshine rotary joining us to help prepare and serve food. Their tremendous efforts were rewarded by seeing everyone enjoy themselves so much.

Seeing people in the café and parent-toddler groups in the week that followed, everyone was talking about the event and the highlights of the evening. Next year’s date is already in their diaries, Saturday, October 12.

Events

Young Creatives – Some of our young people did an amazing performance on Tuesday 5 December. This group worked hard to bring the best of themselves and showcase their many musical and creative talents learned over the term.

A series of cooking and craft events are to take place over the coming months. Our first cooking session, part of the National Lottery Cost of Living Fund initiative, was enjoyed by many of the mums from the parent-toddler group.

During the Friday café, clay crafting provided an enjoyable activity for people to try. These sessions are free and anyone, regardless of ability, are invited to join. Our next event will be Christmas wreath making on Friday 15th December 9.30am-11.45am

Children’s Christmas Party takes place on Sunday 10 December, photos to follow in the new year.

Parent-Toddler Group

Extended hours: Wednesday and Thursday 9.15 to 2.45pm

As part of a Winter Pressures initiative Wednesday session is extended. Thursdays are extended too, funded by National Lottery Cost of Living till March 31st 2024, a lunch of soup and a roll is available. Sitting together for lunch has increased the inclusion within the group allowing different groups of parents to talk to one another and offer encouragement and support.

Parent-Toddler group will be closed for the school holidays the last session being Wednesday 20 December, it will reopen Wednesday 3 January.

At the end of October, we invited a guest speaker to share her knowledge and to raise awareness of the importance of breast screening. The helpful information, and practical demonstration on how to do regular checks at home, provided and interesting and supportive session.

Café

Jubilee café provides a warm and friendly place to meet friends old and new. Monday hours have been extended as part of the Winter Warm initiative, with a soup lunch provided. This now runs Monday, 9.15am to 2.45pm.

Times of the café on other days are:

Tuesday 9.15am to 1.45pm (including English lessons 9.15 to 12.15)
Friday 9.15 to 12.45 (including Craft sessions 9.15 to 11.45)
Saturday 10.00 to 2.00

The café will remain open over the festive season, see the notice for dates.

Church Family

We are gathering as a church family for a shared lunch after our Sunday service on 17 December.
