Community Cafés

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Jubilee Café is open to anyone. Whether you feel isolated & lonely, you want to make new friends, or you simply want to enjoy a good cuppa, come and be part of our welcoming and friendly community. There is always someone willing to sit and chat.

We serve good filter coffee and tea, cakes and other refreshments. There are different activities such as puzzles and dominos. We have a programme of craft and cooking sessions advertised through the year. Many friendships have been formed through these group events.

We have become an international hub where many cultures meet and enjoy exchanging stories.

Wednesday Café
Wednesdays 10am – 3pm (Term time)

On Wednesday our friends & students at Newton Bridge Academy run the café. They offer cakes made by the students at the school.

This opportunity supports students, up to the age of 25, with lifelong learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Working in the cafe gives them opportunities in a safe supervised environment to build links with the local community and helps to overcome barriers. Our heart is that in the future their experience of working in café will open up opportunities for training and work experience.

Come and served by these wonderful young people.

Community Language and Support Programs

At Jubilee, our free English Conversation Club offers language support for anyone looking to improve their English skills. Led by our teaching staff and retired volunteer teachers, sessions focus on building conversation skills, preparing for B2 exams, and supporting the Life in the UK test. We also offer guidance for job seekers, including help with CV writing and interview preparation, to support pathways into employment.

In partnership with the National Lottery (our generous funders), we support refugees and asylum seekers as they navigate life in the UK. Our services help individuals overcome isolation and build a sense of belonging. English language lessons, crisis support, guidance on employment and education pathways and opportunities to volunteer, foster confidence and building community connections.

We extend additional support to Ukrainian families, offering activities for children and social events to help preserve cultural heritage. Jubilee has become a space for families to connect and share their culture with the local community. These programmes foster mental well-being and unity, welcoming both residents and newly arrived families.

In supporting our local Ukrainian community as they continue to take refuge in the UK, many activities and initiatives have taken place to help with practical tasks and support well-being. These include cooking for teenagers, collaborative art/fundraising projects, group visits to local places and working closely with other organisations, In addition, Ukrainian Independence Day, on August 24th each year.

Youth Empowerment Programs

Jubilee’s Youth Initiatives empower young people through creative and practical skills. Young Creatives, a music and media project, offers weekly sessions where secondary students learn music, photography, film editing, and green screen technology. Access to this program is available by referral through schools or support agencies, and spaces are limited to ensure dedicated attention for those who would benefit most.

Our Cook and Eat project, led by a local chef, teaches youth ages 11 to 17 essential cooking skills, nutrition basics, and budgeting for meals. These hands-on sessions focus on affordable, nutritious recipes and foster a supportive atmosphere where participants can connect, build friendships, and gain confidence in the kitchen.

Our Wonderful Volunteers & Generous Funders

All that we do in the café, parent-toddler group and events is only possible because of the commitment of our volunteers and the generous funding from our donors. Our thanks go to them.
