Continued Support For Ukraine & Cultural Music – June 2023 Update

Supporting Ukraine

Jubilee cafรฉโ€™s Ukrainian Hub offers ongoing support to Ukrainian families living in the Grantham area, along with other newcomers settling in our country and community. Working with partner agencies, advice is available for a variety of issues, such as housing, employment, and healthcare. The strong friendships that have grown through coming together as a community have also provided unmeasurable support.

A fundraising concert has been organised to provide help for families back in the Ukraine, many have lost everything during the conflict. Entrance is free, however, any donations given will provide much needed funds to an orphanage in the Ukraine.

Jubilee Cafรฉ

Jubilee cafรฉ continues to be busy, the lively chatter, laughter and music create a welcoming atmosphere. Planned activities give people the opportunity to connect with people while learning something new. This month we had creative artwork, lino cutting and a pub style quiz.

One of our Iranian guests played the tabla drum accompanied by traditional music from his country, offering a wonderful opportunity to share in another culture represented in our diverse community. In June there will be another cooking session which is always popular.

Parent-Toddler Group

The parent-toddler group are planning a picnic before finishing for the summer break. We will say goodbye to the children who will start school in September.

Church Family

Being โ€˜familyโ€™ is a key aspect of church life, which extends out to our local community. This is expressed through engaging in activities, such as, volunteering to help with one of our community projects that operate throughout the week, supporting our youth activities and events, belonging to a home group, or simply sharing lunch after a church (pictured).

Our Wonderful Volunteers & Generous Funders

All that we do in the cafรฉ, parent-toddler group and events is only possible because of the commitment of our volunteers and the generous funding from our donors. Our thanks go to them.
