Autumn Highlights: Celebrate The Nations Party, Youth Programs, Health Checks & Community Support Initiatives

Events

Celebrate the Nations party is a highlight of our year. It is an amazing evening of food, culture and entertainment. Last year 250 people joined us, representing over 30 different nations. People bring a traditional dish to share, so the food is fabulous and plentiful, and many wear national dress and perform traditional dances. Please join us, Saturday 12 October from 6.30pm-9pm for a wonderful evening.

Vibe music cafรฉ: Every second Wednesday of the month, 7pm-9pm for 18 to 25 year olds: feeling lonely, anxious, isolated? Come and see whatโ€™s going on.

A Community Health Check event was designed to give everyone using the Jubilee Community Cafรฉ an opportunity to have NHS Health/ blood pressure checks while at Jubilee Life Centre. Other support professionals were on hand to discuss a variety issues as needed.

In supporting our local Ukrainian community as they continue to take refuge in the UK, many activities and initiatives have taken place to help with integration and well-being, such as table tennis evenings, a trip to the Alpaca farm, movie and games nights, and cultural events. Starting in September at Jubilee, Saturday childrenโ€™s activities, songs and stories, and dance lessons, reflecting language and culture of Ukraine, will provide a means to help their well-being.

Our Ukrainian Hub Cafรฉ is expanding to include all nationality of refugees and asylum seekers. Having gained much experience from welcoming many different peoples into our cafรฉ, we will expand the knowledge and support learned to all peoples. Everyone from the local community are most welcome to join them, Saturdays from 10am-2pm.

Through the generous support of LVET and the NHS, a new โ€˜Cook and Eatโ€™ project aims to help young people learn how to cook, learning basic skills, nutrition explained simply, cooking on a budget.

Aimed at young people aged 11 to 17 (Senior School students), they will be taught by a local chef. This takes place at Jubilee Church Life Centre in the community kitchen. The focus is on easy to cook, nutritious meals at low cost using slow cookers, microwaves, cooking in bulk, plus how to shop and store food safely.โ€จ

Kitchens always provide a place where itโ€™s easier to communicate, make new friends and learn new skills.

Parent-Toddler group

We have welcomed several new families. A vast variety of toys and plenty of space creates a great place for young children to explore through play, giving parents/grandparents/carers time to enjoy the company of others Parent-Toddler group will be closed for the half-term school holidays 23rd & 24th October.

Church Family

Our youth group joins with other churches in the town once a month for an evening of fun and friendship. Hosted each month in different venues, this has created a new dynamic, strengthening and encouraging our young Christian community to grow in faith and confidence.

Saturday 14 September is Encounter Room, a time to fellowship and worship together and be awakened to Godโ€™s presence. We will be joined by speaker Valerie Elyott
