In February 2011 with the help of all the members of the church Jubilee moved into our own building. Before this time the church had operated out of village halls and also a shop on the Grantham High Street. During this time we sought to serve the people of the local area by providing a meeting place, befriending and practical help to people with all sorts of requirements. We provided help with learning English to those new to the country, supported people with drug and alcohol abuse and also acted as a focal point for people from other nations, as we sought to integrate with the local community. We provided these services with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
The name for our centre is Jubilee Church Life Centre as this captures our vision for the building. It is our heart to bring life to every area of our local community. Jesus promises to bring ‘life in all its fullness’ to all those who come to Him. We seek to bring this amazing experience to all people in the locality.
We have sought to do this by providing a community kitchen, disabled changing facilities (changing places), English conversation club, conference facilities and opportunities for youth and children. This wide range of activities reflects our heart to reach every member of our local community with the love of Jesus.
We started to use the building as soon as we moved in, however the building required a substantial amount of renovations. With thanks to a dedicated team of builders and volunteers our ground floor was completed in February 2013. Work then began on our first floor with the addition of a suite of rooms designed with our Live Sound music project in mind. This was completed in February 2014.
We then renovated a suite of rooms including a tea bar, toilet and two large meeting rooms. This has provided much needed space for expansion of existing projects and the start of new ones supporting many community groups including Grantham Additional Needs Federation young people.
